Canada Running Series (CRS) is happy to announce that they have handed off the organization duties of the Beaches Jazz Fun Run to The Toronto Beaches Runners Club. With the addition of CRS’s new Waterfront 10k, assistance was needed to keep the Jazz Run going strong. That’s where Dave Emilio & The Toronto Beaches Runners Club (BRC) comes in.
Since it’s inception in 2009 (and for many years prior) The members of the BRC have been swarming the area with friendly runners of all ages and abilities. The club boasts over 250 friendly faces and are always happy to see more runners join in and experience the beauty of the beach!
BRC Club President Dave Emilio and his trusty sidekick Duff McLaren took on the Race Direction duties of the Tannenbaum 10k back in 2012 and have turning it into Toronto’s premier, highly rated ‘late season’ 10k boasting a sell out this past December of 1000 runners and a 3rd year in a row of donations over $15,000 to Community Centre 55’s Share a Christmas Program.
Now Dave & co. will be heading up Race Direction for the Beaches Jazz Festival Run, taking it from the format of 5k, 10k and 20k ‘fun runs’ into premier, chip timed races, while still planning on keeping the cool relaxed vibe you’d expect from a BRC event and the Jazz Run’s history. Small price increases have been implemented to cover costs of chip timing and commemorative SWAG, including medals for the Half Marathon finishers, but generally, the events remain competitively and reasonably priced.
Don’t miss out on what is sure to be a great event, in a great area, and as always, will serve as the perfect tune up run for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon races come September!
